Known as the County, Wigtownshire County Golf Club offers a friendly environment and visitors to the area are very welcome. Located on the shores of Luce Bay, the County offers an 18-hole links course that will test golfers of all abilities. Sloping greens and sea breezes that can be quick to change direction will add to the experience! The club house is open to everyone with no dress code and offers a range of delicious meals and snacks.

 

Newton Stewart Golf Club, Newton Stewart


Newton Stewart Golf Club  is an 18-hole course set in beautifully manicured parkland. Surrounded by the stunning Galloway hills, you’re never far away from the natural and rugged beauty of Scotland – you may even spot deer! The course measures 5,806 yards, par 69.

 

Stranraer Golf Club, Stranraer


Stranraer Golf Club boasts an 18-hole course that was designed in 1950 by James Braid. Keen golfers will know that he was involved in the creation of world-famous courses such as Gleneagles and Carnoustie – this is your chance to test out his superb design. Set in picturesque surroundings, you can enjoy wonderful views of Loch Ryan whilst relaxing in the clubhouse. The club also has a pro shop if you fancy a bit of shopping!

 

Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club, Portpatrick


Located just outside the village of Portpatrick and overlooking the North Channel, Portpatrick Dunskey Golf Club has two courses to choose from. Take on the Dunskey 18-hole course or enjoy a short game over the Dinvin 9-hole course – whilst admiring your shots, remember to enjoy the views where, on a clear day, you’ll be able to spot the Isle of Man, Mourne Mountains and Mull of Kintyre. No buggies are allowed so be ready for some healthy exercise between holes! If you fancy improving your game, professional coaching sessions are available.

 

St Medan Golf Club, Monreith


St Medan prides itself as a family-friendly club and one that has previously hosted the Ryder Cup tour. Set on a hilly peninsula overlooking Luce Bay, there are 18 tees playing to 9 holes, which presents interesting challenges to both novice and experienced players. After your game, enjoy some light refreshment in the clubhouse and, while you’re in the area, why not round off your day with a walk along the nearby sandy beaches!
